These three paintings were done on paper for a student of mine showing the beginning stages… composition, masses, recession, definite shapes and a generalized color scheme.
Hello to Doug Higgins – I live in Scottburgh, South Africa, and about 20 years ago a young man claiming to be from an art school called at my office with a collection of rolled landscapes for sale – the money “to help his studies”. I purchased one (for the price of a few hamburgers!) measuring 33 by 66 centimeters – seemingly an American scene, vey colourful with farm buildings/sheds in the middle. I had it framed for my home. After all this time I had thought the painting to be unsigned, but I now find it is signed “Doug Higgins” printed in red. If this is genuine I am wondering how it got to Africa. I would be glad to have it photographed and shown to you if I have an email address.
Regards – Norman
Hello Norman. I’ve received images from your country of paintings alleging to be mine and they were not. So the likelihood that your painting was done by someone else is, unfortunately, probably the case.
